The first issue of the new Jewish quarterly, “Midstream,” published by the Theodor Herzl Foundation, was officially presented today to the public at a gathering of distinguished Jewish writers, scholars and communal leaders at the headquarters of the Foundation.

Professor Horace M.Kallen, veteran Jewish leader and author, led a discussion which centered on the subject of the differences that distinguish the American Jewish community from other Jewish centers in the world. The article “America Is Different” by Ben Halpern, which appears in the first issue of the magazine served as the basis for Prof. Kallen’s address.
