For the second time within a week, a Jew here has been the victim of a terrorist attack, arousing fears that nationalist extremists are bent on stirring up trouble by using Jews as scapegoats.
The latest attack occurred last night when a powerful explosion, probably of a home caused considerable damage at the home of Maurice Lisota, a well-known businessman here and an influential member of the local Jewish community. Thursday night, a footwear store owned by another Jew, Claude Fellous, was seriously damaged when two unidentified men threw a stick of high explosives into the shop. In neither case were here any casualties.
Neither of the two Jewish businessman plays any role in Tension political affairs. However, it is believed here that the anti-Jewish terrorists may be supporters of the extremist nationalist leader, Salah Ben-Youssef, who fled from the country last week. Ben Youssef is opposed to the moderate policies of Habib Bourguib leader of the Neo-Destour Party. It is believed also that the attackers may be students of Ziloun Moslem University here, which is known to have close connection with the fanatic Moslem Brotherhood.
