August Polaczy, a high official in the Bavarian Ministry of Finance and one of the most active adversaries of Dr. Philip Auerbach, leader of post-war German Jewry who was hounded to suicide about four years ago, has been sentenced by a civil service disciplinary court here to forfeit one-fifth of his salary for a period of five years. The proceedings against him stemmed from his anti-Auerbach campaign.

Polaczy had made various accusations against Dr. Auerbach and against the latter’s superior in the Bavarian Government hierarchy, State Secretary Dr. Richard Ringel-mann, both as a witness in the Auerbach case and before the Auerbach Investigating Committee of the Bavarian legislature. The court has now ruled that Polaczy’s accusations were unfounded and that, in making them, he committed a “serious violation.”
