Algerian Jewish businessmen are being threatened with death if they do not contribute a stated sum to the “National Army of Algerian Liberation,” it was reported here today.

One Jewish businessman in Oran received a letter setting the amount which he must pay at 1,000,000 francs. He was warned that refusal, or transmission of information to the “enemy,” carries the risk of death. The letter directed that the sum be paid over to one of the businessman’s employees–named in the letter–and also hinted that his family would suffer if payment is not made.
