The completion of a 2,800 foot tunnel in Upper Galilee was celebrated today by workmen and by residents in the area. The tunnel is part of a national water system which will transport surplus water from the Jordan River in the northern part of Israel to the Negev. The tunnel which took more than a year to complete, cost 600,000 pounds.
When the entire project is completed, water from this area will be fed to the south in two giant concrete pipelines. These lines are already in the planning stage, although other portions of the project are not yet ready.
