Dr. Franz Sobek, president of the newly-established Austrian fund for payments to Nazi victims abroad, appealed today to all such victims to send in their applications as quickly as possible. He said that speedy applications were needed in order to ensure that payments would be made quickly. The fund, set up as a result of negotiations between Austra and world Jewish organizations, totals some $21,000,000

According to the statutes under which the fund operates, the first payments are not to be made before June 10, 1957, but Dr. Sobek promised that needy cases would be taken care of earlier. This will be possible because international organizations have already pledged to advance the funds necessary for these payments.
