A rare archaeological discovery, the unearthing of a section of the wall surrounding ancient Jaffa, was announced yesterday by M. Kaplan, municipal archaeologist.
The base of the wall is believed to have been built during the days of Rameses II, generally considered the Pharaoh of the oppression. The presence of the structure was deduced from hieroglyphics found elsewhere.
