Israel this week-end approved a reduction in air fare rates and cleared the way for the institution of a special low fare between New York and London or Paris. The reduction, which went into effect today, applies to tourists who return to their point of departure within 15 days.

Israel was the last nation to agree to the rate change because Israeli officials had insisted that the reduction should extend to people who planned to stay up to 23 days, thus making reduced fares an attraction for visitors who would have to travel farther from the United States. Israeli approval was given for only one year, thus insuring that new rate reduction talks would be held by international airlines next year.
