Convinced that the Eisenhower Administration would apply all-out economic sanctions in the Sinai withdrawal deadlock, Prime Minister David Ben Gurion ordered the withdrawal to assure continued delivery of arms to Israel, he wrote in a letter whose contents were disclosed today.
In the letter, sent to Gaza Strip border settlements two weeks ago. Ben Gurion declared that “another war might come within a year or two if not earlier” and a break in weapons delivery, particularly jet aircraft, would have been likely if sanctions were ordered.
