Ose Plans Health Program for Hungarian Refugees in Austria

Foundations for a long-term program of medical care for Jewish refugees from Hungary are being laid by the OSE World Union, it was announced at headquarters of the organization here today. Many of the refugees will have to remain in Austria longer than previously anticipated, OSE has been informed by its public health consultant. Dr. Yoshua Rapp, now studying the refugee situation in Austria.

Special assistance has been organized by OSE for refugee physicians from Hungary and Egypt, aiding in their plans to emigrate, helping them obtain professional accreditation and assisting them to secure employment and facilities for continuing their practice in their new homes. To date, 143 Jewish physicians have reached Austria from Hungary, and a number of Jewish doctors from Egypt have notified OSE that they are on their way to Europe. Of the 143 physicians from Hungary who have reached Austria, only 40 have emigrated to other countries.
