Israelis Accept German Songs at Concert; Will Hear German Lecturer

Download PDF for this date

For the first time since the establishment of Israel, German songs were accepted by Israelis at a concert tonight given by Jennie Tourel, star singer of the Metropolitan Opera in New York. She sang four numbers during a concert presented by the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. She was not interrupted by the audience. A previous attempt to present songs by Schubert some time ago drew boos and catcalls from the audience.

The first public lecture by a German speaker in Israel will take place here this week when H. Kuerstermeyer, correspondent for a German news agency, participates in a symposium on Israel’s foreign relations.
