A crisis in the financing of the local Jewish General Hospital is developing out of the failure of the civic government here to honor a pledge for $600,000 made by the former municipal administration several years ago, according to a statement made by David Kirsch, president of the institution, at its annual meeting.
Pierre Desmarais, chairman of the executive committee of the City of Montreal stated in reply to Mr. Kirsch that no such pledge had been made by the city. If any former member of the executive committee had made such a pledge, it was “personal and verbal,” he said.
