Israel Registers Impressive Decline in Polio; Helped by Salk Vaccine

The month of July, the most dangerous in the Israeli calendar for polio, this year passed with only eight recorded cases, compared with 125 last year, the Israeli Ministry of Health reported today.

The improvement was attributed to a nation-wide inoculation of infants and youth with Salk Vaccine carried out last fall by the Health Ministry. Seven of the eight who were stricken had not been innoculated and the eighth victim was an infant who had a mild attack.
