Goldmann Discusses Russian-jewish Situation with Soviet Envoy

The position of the Jews in the Soviet Union and the possibilities for them of emigration from Russia were discussed at a private meeting here between Dr. Nahum Goldmann, president of the World Zionist Organization and head of the Jewish Agency, and the Soviet Ambassador to Israel, Alexander Abramov, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency learned today.

The lengthy meeting was held in Tel Aviv a few days before Dr. Goldmann’s departure for Europe. In addition to the emigration question, the two men were understood to have discussed the possibility of establishing an organized Jewish communal life in the Soviet Union with the community enjoying such minority rights as education.
