14-year-old Girl Returns to Israel As Stowaway

Download PDF for this date

Seven months after she unwillingly left Israel with her father to settle in Cuba, 14-year-old Deborah Pasternak was back today as a stow away passenger on the Israeli freighter Shomron. “It’s better here,” she said happily, as the ship docked. Stowing away on the ship in Havana, Deborah was found at sea. After an exchange of cables between her mother in Israel and her father in Cuba, she was allowed to return here.
