U. J. A. Urgently Asks Communities to Provide $30, 000, 000 in Cash

An urgent call to Jewish communities throughout the country to make available $30, 000, 000 in cash for the United Jewish Appeal by December 13, to help stem the mounting refugee crisis overseas, went out today from Philip W. Lown of Boston, and Samuel Rothberg of Peoria, III., UJA National Cash Chairman, They stressed the need for the first $15, 000, 000 to be raised by October 18.

The $30, 000, 000 goal for the three-month special cash collection drive is part of the UJA’s two-fold campaign this year. More than $45, 000, 000 in cash already has been realized from campaigns in local communities throughout the country.
