A.d.l. to Honor Christians Who Rescued Jews from Nazis

Five European ambassadors will join with other top diplomats, city officials and American church and civic leaders in special ceremonies here Wednesday to pay tribute to Christian heroes who risked their lives during the Nazi occupation to rescue Jews from extermination.

A reception by the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith will be held to dedicate a plaque memorializing the deeds of these heroic Christians. Both heroes and survivors of the Nazi occupation will attend. Among the resistance fighters will be Jean Poncelet of Belgium, Major Jean Hesse, Major George Ittel, and Michel de Camaret of France.

Other principal guests of honor will include: Ambassadors Henrik Kauffmann of Denmark, Erik Boheman of Sweden, John A. Nykopp of Finland, Baron Silvercruys of Belgium, J, H. van Roijen of the Netherlands, and Consul General and Minister Plenipotentiary Jacques Baeyenes of France, Consul General Carlo de Ferrariis Salzano of Italy and Consul Arthur March Hans son of Norway.
