French Foreign Minister Christian Pineau expressed his determination tonight to see the territorial integrity of Israel preserved.
In an interview here, M. Pineau asserted that the resumption of diplomatic relations between France and Egypt would have no bearing on Franco-Israel relations which he described as “excellent.” He expressed the hope that despite “outside” factors these relations would continue excellent.
Meanwhile, M. Pineau is expected to include in a foreign policy statement in the National Assembly tomorrow a reference to the Middle East. Afterwards, the Assembly will commence a foreign policy debate. M. Pineau is scheduled to confer with Selwyn Lloyd, British Foreign Secretary, Friday.
