Reporting that Israel’s frontiers were “more peaceful now than at any time in recent years,” Abba S. Eban, Israel Ambassador to the United States, said yesterday that this was due in large part to the fact that any war in the Middle East would involve “the atomic powers.” He spoke at the 30th anniversary meeting of the Women’s League for Israel.

“Peace in the world centers on security in the Middle East,” Mr. Eban said. “A confrontation of the great powers in our region may bring a heightened sense of danger, but also perhaps security, because of a greater sense of prudence.” Mrs. Harry Cahane, president, announced the endowment by the Women’s League of a teaching chair in sociology at the Hebrew University, to be named for Mrs. David L. Isaacs, League vice-president.
