Egypt and Syria Announce Completion of Talks of Army Fusion

Talks between Egypt and Syria about fusion of the foreign ministries and the armed forces of both countries have been completed in Cairo, according to an announcement made here by the Egyptian delegation.

At the same time, the announcement disclosed that Yemen will join the so-called United Arab Republic. Yemen’s Emir Saif al-Islam al-Badr, the delegation said, will return to Cairo next week to sign the “republic” agreement, and Yemen’s inclusion in this federation will be formally announced on February 22.

The delegation stated that results of the “plebiscite” in Egypt and in Syria regarding merger will be announced by the Egyptian Minister of the Interior at a celebration to be held in Cairo Friday. According to the delegation, a joint statement congratulating the federation of Syria and Egypt has been issued by King Mohammed Zaher of Afghanistan and Prime Minister Nehru of India.
