In Haifa, some 20,000 workers from the city and suburbs paraded past a grandstand in which Mayor Abba Chushi and Joseph Almogi, secretary of the city’s Histadrut organization, reviewed the marchers. Secretary General Pinchas Lavon of the Histadrut addressed the holidaying workers. Prominent among the marchers were Arab and Druze contingents.
