The Jewish Welfare federation of San Francisco will open a comprehensive study in October of the recreational, cultural and social work needs of the Jewish population of the burgeoning Jewish community.

Frank H, Sloss, chairman of the federation’s social planning committee, said that the study had been made necessary by the significant changes in the Jewish population served by Jewish community centers in San Francisco, Marin County and the Peninsula. He noted that on the Peninsula, “the growing population has spread over an area of 40 miles, with the result that the Center is unable to give adequate service from one location.”

The general goal of the study, he said, would be to determine how well the programs of the three Jewish Centers were geared to the composition and characteristics of the three Jewish communities.
