The appointment of Jacques Soustelle as a member of the de Gaulle Government was welcomed today in Jewish circles in France. In addition to his known pro-Israel stand, the new Minister of information has fought anti-Semitism wherever it has appeared.

M. Soustelle, chairman of the rightist Franco-Israel Alliance, has consistently campaigned for a closer military relationship between France and the Jewish State. He recently expressed his belief that the present regime here would continue France’s close ties with Israel. He has visited Israel on several occasions.
