Israel Ambassador in London Seeks Clarification from Britain

Official British circles admitted today that the Iraqi revolt would necessitate “a complete reappraisal of the Middle Eastern situation as the regional political map has been completely altered.”

Eliahu Elath, the Israel Ambassador In London, was to call at the Foreign Office today to receive what clarifying information the British authorities have been able to assemble from the welter of reports flooding in.

Official sources here were Impressed by reports that for the past twelve hours the Bagdad Radio has been broadcasting slogans such as “Long Live the Soviet Union ” and “Unity with the United Arab Republic”

Concern was also expressed here over the future of Jordan. Although a plot to assassinate King Hussein there was crushed, the attempt was described as well planned and far-reaching and fears were expressed here that it would be quickly followed by another attempt.
