Eisenhower Sees Improved Prospects for Middle East Peace Settlement

President Eisenhower told his press conference today that chances for a long-term peace settlement in the Near East are better than before as a result of the action of the United Nations General Assembly special session.

While prospects were impossible to evaluate, the President said, he thought the new atmosphere created might provide a better chance for progress toward regional peace.
