A large mosaic floor dating back to the sixth century C.E. has been unearthed at excavations in the southern Negev, it was revealed here.
The floor, approximately 15 by 30 feet, was recovered near the site of the ancient Byzantine town of Shivta. Greek inscriptions can be made out in the border of the mosaic.
