Gov. Harriman Tells Jews of Hopes for Peace, Progress in 5719

Gov. Averell Harriman, extending “cordial greetings” to the Jewish people of New York State, the nation and world, expressed the hope in his Rosh Hashanah message that “the Jewish people in our nation and around the globe” would enjoy peace and progress “during the coming year and in the years ahead.”

The Governor also expressed the hope that during the coming year the United Nations would establish “permanent safeguards for Israel’s political and economic independence and make plain to the world that the State of Israel, now celebrating its tenth birthday, is here to stay.”
