NEW YORK (Sep. 30)
Authorization to conduct an extension division in New York City was granted to Dropsie College, Philadelphia, by the New York State Education Department, it was announced here today. In accordance with this authorization, Dr. Abraham A. Neuman, president of the college, declared that students majoring in education can, by availing themselves of the full course of studies offered in the Extension Division, earn within two years sufficient credits to become candidates for the doctoral degree by completing one full year of study at the college in Philadelphia. The courses given in New York parallel those offered at the college.
Dropsie College is the highest institution of Jewish learning in America. Its level of instruction begins where the various theological seminaries and rabbinical schools end. Among its students are Christian ministers and ordained rabbis, most of whom become professors in the theological seminaries of their respective denominations. They join also the faculties of some of the leading universities not only in America but throughout the world. However, the primary aim of the college is not theological but cultural and academic.
