Some 2,000 high school teachers started a nation-wide strike today in a bid for higher salaries. They demanded the same salaries as those paid engineers employed by the Israel Government.

The strike was authorized by the High School Teachers Association but it was opposed by the Teachers Section of the Histadrut which repeatedly urged the teachers to Ignore the association’s strike call.
