Liberian Embassy Opens in Jerusalem; Second Embassy in Capital

Download PDF for this date

The Liberian Embassy opened here today and became the second foreign embassy to function in Jerusalem. Most of the rations with which Israel has diplomatic relations boycott Jerusalem so as not to give de facto recognition to Israel’s claim, disputed in the United Nations resolution on the internationalization of Jerusalem, to this city as its capital.

Holland was the first nation to open its embassy in Jerusalem. Guatemala and Uruguay maintain consulates in the city, while Greece has a diplomatic mission here. Jerome Yancy, Liberia’s first Ambassador to Israel, presented his credentials today to President Isaac Ben Zvi.
