Jewish Education in Morocco Lauded by French Envoy to Canada

Jewish education and community organization were helpful in enabling the Jews of Morocco to survive discrimination against them, Francis Lacoste, French Ambassador to Canada, declared here, addressing a reception of the Canadian Friends of the Alliance Universelle Israelite. He stated that he had close experience with the Alliance while he was Resident in Morocco.

The Israel Ambassador to Canada, Arthur Lurie, praised the work of the Alliance in Israel and stressed the importance of the institutions it had established in Palestine before the creation of the Jewish State. Other speakers included Saul Hayes of the Canadian Jewish Congress, Allan Bronfman of the Canadian Friends of the Hebrew University, Jules Braunschvig, of the Alliance, and Justice Harry Batschaw of the Superior Court of Quebec.
