The Prime Ministers Advisory Economic Council moved today, as the Government studied plans for both increased and new taxation, to assure a “more equitable” distribution of the income tax burden and the financial obligations imposed by the emigration of Jews from Rumania.
The Council recommended that the tax deduction for children and working wives should be increased and that tax officials be ordered to finish all assessments, negotiations and appeals on taxes within two years of each fiscal year. Another government committee meanwhile rejected a proposal to establish a gambling casino at one of Israel’s luxury hotels as an additional attraction for tourists.
