A special ionosphere checking station, the only one in this part of the world, is being set up by the Haifa Technion as part of the world study of the ionosphere, it was disclosed today.

The ionosphere is an invisible layer in the outer atmosphere which affects radio transmission. Instruments for the station have been loaned by the American Standards Bureau. The instruments detect the layer by sending electrical impulses up, and recording them after they are “bounced” back by the layer.
