The requirement of Jewish religious law that it is the duty of a son or daughter to support needy parents received official recognition today from the Israel Supreme Court.

The high court upheld the ruling of a lower court ordering a married woman to contribute to the maintenance of her aged parents. The high court rejected the woman’s appeal that the behavior and attitude of the parents toward her did not justify the demand she should help to support them.
