California and Ohio after years of effort on the part of the Jewish communities there, have joined the ranks of states with laws forbidding discrimination in employment opportunities. The California measure was passed on April 10, and the one in Olio on April 15.

The addition of California and Ohio brings to 17 the total number of states with fair employment practices laws. New York initiated the movement with enactment of its law in 1945.
