In the face of constant and repeated anti-Semitic persecutions, directed against his wife, his child, himself and his business, Kurt Sumpf, 33, a restaurant owner at Koeppern, near this city, has decided to leave the town.
Windows in Sumpf’s restaurant have been smashed several times in the last few months; he has been shot at; his wife was punched in the nose. His son was harassed so much at school that the child had to be withdrawn from school. Last January, 12 men were accused by police of being the ring leaders in the neighborhood’s anti-Semitic attacks against Sumpf. But none of the men has as yet been placed on trial. Now Sumpf is leaving Koeppern.
