Mrs. Golda Meir, Israel’s Foreign Minister, today signed a treaty of cultural exchange between Israel and Brazil, She arrived here yesterday from Caracas for a seven-day visit as the official guest of the Government of Brazil.
Mrs. Meir was greeted at Rio’s international airfield by Foreign Minister Dr. Francisco Negrao de Lima, a personal representative of President Kubitschek, members of the Jewish community and a crowd of more than 1, 000 individual Jews. Following an official state greeting, Mrs. Meir reviewed an honor guard while a military band played the Israel and Brazilian national anthems.
Mrs. Meir, whose visit was greeted by enthusiastic editorials throughout the Brazilian press, was guest of honor tonight at a special reception at the Brazilian Foreign Ministry.
