A total of $2, 012, 000 in contributions to the 1959 Jewish Welfare Federation campaign of San Francisco was announced by Melvin Swig, general chairman, as the drive continued into its final clean-up phase. He said the new total included $1, 438, 000 for the regular campaign, $475,000 for the United Jewish Appeal immigration program, and $99, 000 contributed to the hospital debt retirement.

Mr. Swig also reported that although only three percent of prospects cards remained to be solicited, “it is imperative that all volunteers with outstanding assignments finish the job within the next seven days.” He said that “should this final clean-up job be carried out as effectively as early phases of our campaign, we can look forward to achieving the highest total in the history of fund-raising in our Jewish community.”
