The Chicago Combined Jewish Appeal today announced that it had already exceeded the amount of money raised in 1958 by the Combined Jewish Appeal. Morris Norian, campaign chairman, stated $5,350,000 had been pledged for both the Regular and the Special Rescue Fund campaign as against $5,340,000 in 1958.
The Regular CJA campaign has secured $4,490,098, and the Special Rescue Fund $859,902, with the Special Rescue Fund campaign showing an increase of 113 percent over last year. Outstanding 1958 contributors still to be accounted for represent approximately $900,000. Mr. Noran estimated that the 1959 campaign would show between a 15 percent and 20 percent increase, and would reach at least the 1957 figure of $6,117,000.
