The Budapest radio reported today that a national conference of Jewish communities in Hungary, “representing 100, 000 Hungarian Jews,” concluded in Budapest with the adoption of a number of resolutions concerning Jewish life in Hungary.
Completely ignoring all other resolutions, the state’s official radio said that the conference, attended by “leaders of the national representation of Hungarian Jews,” adopted a resolution “protesting against Israel’s sale of arms to West Germany.” The resolution, as disseminated by the Communist radio station, also said:
“Both as Hungarian patriots and Hungarians of the Jewish religion, we appeal to the peace-loving masses of all countries and ask them not to tolerate the rearmament of the murderers of the best Hungarian patriots and of the 600, 000 deported Hungarian Jews, and to ward off the danger menacing the peace of all mankind,”
