The re-trial of former Nazi Gauleiter Erich Koch was underway today before the Polish Supreme Court in Warsaw. Koch, who directed the mass annihilation of Jews in occupied Poland and Nazi-held Ukraine, was condemned to death last March 9 for war crimes. He appealed his sentence to the highest court and won a new trial. The proceedings are expected to last four or five days.

The trial of former S. S. Capt. Franz Johann Hoffman, opened yesterday before a court in Hechingen, West Germany. Hoffman was charged with the murder of thousands of inmates of German death camps at Auschwitz, Dachau and Bisingen.
