James N. Rosenberg, prominent Jewish personality and one of the honorary leaders of the Joint Distribution Committee, was the recipient here of congratulations from many quarters on his 85th birthday which he celebrated during the week-end quietly with his family.
Mr. Rosenberg is one of the founders of the Palestine Economic Corporation. He was chairman of the Agrojoint which settled more than 200,000 declassed Jews on land in the Crimea. He is also co-chairman of the U.S. Commission for a United Nations Genocide Convention, and heads the commission on human rights of the National Conference of Christians and Jews. A prominent lawyer, he is also a well-known painter whose works of art can be found in more than 20 leading museums in the United States.
