Iraq has decided to lift its boycott of Imperial Chemical Industries, giant British chemical combine, which had been banned from commercial activities in Iraq because of ICI’s alleged commercial contacts with Israel, according to dispatches from Baghdad today.
Until the boycott was imposed, ICI had been Iraq’s principal supplier of chemicals, explosives, paints and dye-stuffs. According to the Baghdad report, ICI presented documentary material to the Iraq Government, “proving” that it has no trade ties with Israel and “appealing” for a reversal of the boycott order.
