Two black-shirted self-styled “S.S. Troopers, ” both 22 years of age, were arrested here after they painted swastikas on a synagogue. One of them was a German who is now seeking American citizenship.

The two, Harold Fahy and William Arnold, were listed as students at the University of Virginia. Police held the two in lieu of $2, 000 bail on charges of injury to property, defacing a building, breach of peace, and conspiracy.

(At Fair Lawn, N.J., a three-story brick elementary school structure was damaged by fire. Police believed the fire had been set by vandals who first smeared swastikas, Stars of David and obscenities on classroom walls.)
