The Jerusalem District Court ruled today that the results of the disputed November 3 municipal elections were valid.
The ruling, issued by Judge Miriam Benporath, dismissed General Zionist claims to a seat on the 21-member Jerusalem Municipal Council. In the revalidate election, Mapal had won sight seats, Herut and Mizrachi four each, Agudat Israel three and Achdut Avodah and the Progressives, one each.
Major changes in party support developed from the election held in Rehovot yesterday after the initial elections last November were invalidated by a court order.
Mapai retained its five seats on the Rehovot Municipal Council. The General Zionists lost one of its previous two seats, Herut lost its one seat, Mapam which failed to win any seats in the November balloting, picked up a seat in the second election and the religious party added one seat to its previous one. Agudat Israel kept one seat.
