A new group of school buildings, costing a total of more than 1,000,000 pesos ($80,000), was presented to the Mexican Government by the Jewish community this week at a ceremony attended by the wife of the Mexican President, Eva Samano De Lopez Mateos, Minister of Buildings Jaime Torres Bodet, and Minister of Health Alvarez Amezquita.
Dr. Sigmund Bibring, president of the Jewish Central Committee, high government officials and prominent members of the Jewish community were among the principal guests at the ceremony. Mr. Bodet lauded Mexican Jewry for their concern and generosity in filling the cultural needs of the Mexican people.
One of the new structures, named for the late sister of the Mexican President, Esperanza Lopez Mateos, will serve as an extension of the Albert Einstein School, which the Jewish community built for the Mexican Government 12 years ago. Dr. Hans A. Einstein, son of the late Albert Einstein, was guest of honor at a banquet marking the opening of the new school building.
