NEW YORK (Mar. 31)
A record of $18,400,000 in gifts and pledges has been received to date by the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies of New York in its 1959-60 campaign, it was disclosed by Gustave L. Levy, president of the Federation, in his presidential report today. Mr, Levy predicted that another $600,000 would be added to that sum before the end of the fiscal year in September.
The number of people aided by the Jewish Federation’s 116 affiliated agencies in 1957 passed the three-quarter million mark, totaling 757,000 and setting another record, Mr. Levy reported. This figure compares with 620,000 aided three years ago in 1957 when he began his term of office.
