Mayors, superintendents of schools and board of education heads from 46 Michigan cities today acclaimed two Detroit Jewish merchants, Al and Tom Borman, who presented to the officials 450 sets of the Encyclopedia Britannica for use in public and parochial schools throughout the State.
Certificates for the encyclopedias were presented to the city officials and educators at ceremonies here at the Veterans Memorial Building. Prior to the ceremonies, at a luncheon in the office of Mayor Louis C. Miriani, the Borman brothers presented certificates for the book-sets to Miss Louise Grace, president of the Detroit Board of Education.
Among those receiving the gifts officially on behalf of the schools with which they are connected were Rabbi Richard C. Hertz, of this city: E. F. Wiese, assistant superintendent of schools for institutions conducted by the Lutheran Church; and the Rev. John Zwers, for the Catholic Archdiocese of Detroit.
