The Theodor Herzl Lodge of B’nai B’rith announced that the annual Jacob Landau Memorial Prize had been awarded to Richard Lichtheim, a veteran of the European Zionist movement, who recently celebrated his 75th birthday.

The award, established in memory of Jacob Landau, founder and for more than 30 years director of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, is made annually to an individual who has been outstanding in promoting the Zionist ideal through his writings. The award to Mr. Lichtheim was in specific recognition of a series of volumes he wrote on the history of Zionism in Germany, his recollections as president of the German Zionist Federation from 1907 to 1920, and other works on the meaning and program of Zionism.
