Dr. Felix Kersten, who claimed in his autobiography that as personal therapist to Gestapo chief Heinrich Himmler, he saved thousands of Jews from deportation and extermination, died yesterday at Hamm, Germany at the age of 61.

Dr. Kersten died from a heart attack while visiting a hospitalized friend. The World Jewish Congress had credited him with saving 60,000 Jews and in 1950 Prince Bernhard of The Netherlands awarded him a Grand Officer’s Cross for war-time service to the Dutch people.
